Overview
Departure: 06:30 AM from Tirana, by private car or tourist van.
Route: Tirana – Arber Road – Greater Dibra – Struga.
1. Struga and the Black Drin Spring (08:30 – 09:30)
After crossing the border, the first stop is in Struga, a beautiful town located on the western side of Lake Ohrid. Visit the spot where the Black Drin River flows out of the lake — a very picturesque place, perfect for photos and a quick coffee by the river.
2. Ohrid Castle & Church of Saint John at Kaneo (10:30 – 12:00)
Next, head to the city of Ohrid. Walk up to Ohrid Castle, which offers spectacular views over the lake and the town.
Then, descend to the Church of Saint John at Kaneo, one of the most iconic landmarks of the city, perched on a cliff overlooking the lake.
3. “Bay of Bones” Museum (12:30 – 13:15)
An interesting stop at this overwater archaeological museum, which recreates a prehistoric settlement built on wooden platforms. It gives a strong sense of history and a unique perspective of ancient lakeside life.
4. Galicica National Park (13:30 – 14:30)
Pass through Galicica National Park with short stops at panoramic viewpoints. If time and conditions allow, a short hike to see the lake from above is a magical experience.
5. Monastery of Saint Naum (14:45 – 15:30)
A spiritual and naturally beautiful site. Visit the monastery and enjoy the crystal-clear natural springs via small boat rides around the source. The atmosphere is peaceful and serene.
6. Drilon & Pogradec (16:00 – 17:00)
Cross the border back into Albania and stop at Drilon, a natural area with canals and pine trees reminiscent of Central Europe. Continue to Pogradec, where you can pause for a coffee by the lakeshore.
7. Village of Lin (17:30 – 18:15)
The final stop is in Lin, a picturesque village with cobbled streets and stunning views of the lake. Visit the ruins of the early Christian basilica and enjoy the tranquility of the place.
Return to Tirana: Departure from Lin around 18:30, arriving in Tirana around 21:00.
